What's in a name?

The beautiful reason behind our very cool name!

Tina has always had a real soft spot for seniors, absolutely loves them. She says they have so much to offer and yet sadly are often overlooked and even ignored. As a young paramedic, Tina had been called to an elderly lady who was having an active heart attack.

On the way to the hospital, heart monitor in place, emergency medicines being administered, the lady in a very frail voice told Tina it was her 88th birthday today. Tina smiled took her hand and held it tight she sat on the floor and said to her, "Well in that case, let's pretend that this ambulance is your birthday cake and the lights on top are your candles. The lady smiled with joy as Tina and the EMT who was driving started to belt out a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' at the tops of their voices. Once they had finished the lady said to Tina "You are an angel." Tina being Tina said very modestly "No! I'm not an angel, I am just a medic." To which the old lady replied "Then you are an angel medic."

So there they were, a lady whose life had just been saved, doing 70 mph, tires screeching, lights flashing, sirens screaming, Happy Birthday wailing as they flew towards the hospital and the name was born!

I love this story and it touches my heart every time I hear it. A bit of kindness and love goes a long long way, and as for the old lady? She made it, and she lived to tell the tale of the angel medic that saved her life and even 20 odd years down the line she lives on in our brand.
